BMW F800GS Review & Video: A Small Adventure
Thu, 19 Feb 2009 19:33:59 +0100 Bike Index - BMW
x8d5gl Brapppppp! In the far lane a rider on a R1200GS Adventure (GSA) has just sailed through an opening in rush hour’s waning traffic. Well played sir, but BMW’s F800GS isn’t so easily tossed aside. The GSA may have more guts, but it also has more mass, and the F800GS is proving epee precise and saber effective at slicing its way through the automotive throng.

Irrational Adoration: Best Western/Harley-Davidson Press Tour
Thu, 05 Feb 2009 11:33:07 +0100 Features - Featured Articles
I throw the Harley-Davidson Sportster Nightster into the corner, hard and fast enough that it wobbles on Quebec’s pavement chop. I shift my weight, press the inner peg, hang off a bit, and ease on the throttle. This will pass, stay relaxed, but sometimes a little active intervention helps - we throttle on out of the apex to a scrape of pegs. A long straight and the little Sportster’s needle brushes 160kph, this Harley-Davidson/Best Western press tour hasn’t been going to plan, but thundering down the straight and setting up for the next corner I can’t help but crack a smile.
New Zealand: Central Plateau - Te Kuiti to Ohakune

New Zealand is simply stunning in the summer, every year it peaks the list of popular tourist destinations, and rightly so. We still marvel at the scenery as we ride on a daily basis, and welcome any opportunity to share it. As warm days approach, our Canadian relatives flock south to the warm climate, eager to escape the bitter cold and take full advantage of the free accommodation.
Ducati 848: As Prada to Vuitton
Mon, 12 Jan 2009 13:27:39 +0100 Bike Index - Ducati
The parking lot encircling the hotel was packed, despite it being a weekday. Among a sea of rental fleet specials, a leviathan tractor trailer was parked, taking up four parking slots and the adjacent lane. The Ducati Corse livery, bright rosso paint and the anticipation of what lay within, triggered salivation like a Kobe steakhouse. The Ducati reps greeted us and promptly started offloading the bikes – the new Monster 696, a Hypermotard S and a beautiful, red 848. Wait…no, it’s a 1098, followed by an 848, in yellow. No, that one’s a 1098 also. Which one is the 848? More importantly, which one is mine? My uncertainty is easily apparent, as the Ducati rep catches me peering around the bikes for the side decals; the only way I can discern my ‘middleweight superbike’ from the 1098.

Multistrada Replacement Spotted by Motor.nl

The Dutch magazine Motor.NL has run photos what appears to be a little person (is that politically correct?) riding a test mule of the proposed Ducati Multistrada replacement. Some details are abundantly clear, the engine for example will be derived from the 1098's stomping strong liquid cooled v-twin.

Ducati: Many Roads of Canada - Finding the North Star
Sat, 24 Jan 2009 00:57:34 +0100 Features - Many Roads of Canada
My original plan was to push through Winnipeg, but my blind servitude to the Garmin Zumo GPS carries me into the downtown core. Then architecture grabbed me, the Bank of Montreal, the Royal Bank, the Via Rail station. A rail hub and the former central point of the fur trade Winnipeg has maintained a sense of grandeur even as the modern world moved on and red river carts became trains, trains and trains gave way to automobiles and plane.
